Welcome to Aluminess's Builder Profile!

Exclusive Outfitters

When living the van life, adventure starts long before the van hits the trail. It begins with the way a space feels, how a floor plan flows, and how a build responds to real-life use day after day. For Exclusive Outfitters, that philosophy shapes every inch of every vehicle that rolls out of their shop. A van shouldn’t just look good, it should work beautifully, move intuitively, and support the way people actually live on the road.

And from the start, Aluminess has been a foundational part of that ecosystem.

Building Vans With Intention

Founded by John Mattarollo, Exclusive Outfitters is a Southern California Sprinter van conversion company, based out of Placentia. As true outdoor lifestyle enthusiasts who bring more than 40 years of automotive experience, this vehicle upfitter specialist is dedicated to designing modern adventure platforms: clean, open floor plans, marine-grade aluminum interiors, integrated soft-storage systems, and modular sleeping layouts built for movement and durability.

“We specialize in creating vans that feel purposeful, refined, and rugged enough to handle real-world adventure,” Mattarollo  explains. “We watch how people actually use their vans. How they set down a backpack, how they cook, how they get changed after surfing, how a family moves around each other. Everything we design comes from that understanding of rhythm and flow.”

The result? Vans that feel effortless, inviting, intuitive, and ready for whatever the day holds.

Why Aluminess Is a Core Part of Their Exterior Design DNA

For the EO team, exterior systems matter just as much as the interior. Their customers rely on their vans to haul bikes, boards, skis, climbing gear, recovery equipment, tools, power solutions, and everything else that fuels their lifestyle. Weight, functionality, and long-term durability are essential in the vehicle build and overall usefulness.

That’s where Aluminess fits in.

Exclusive Outfitters incorporates Aluminess products into nearly every build because the gear solves real problems with thoughtful, purposeful engineering:

  • Lightweight roof racks that maximize overhead real estate for solar, storage boxes, and adventure equipment.

  • PowerLift bike carriers that offer secure transport and effortless loading—now a signature element in EO’s premium builds.

  • Rear tire carriers that reclaim interior space while improving preparedness for remote travel

  • Side ladders and steps that make every vertical surface a functional access point.

  • Front bumpers and storage systems that increase capability without dragging down drivability.

What John appreciates most is how seamlessly the parts integrate into their aesthetic language:

“Aluminess has been a key part of our exterior ecosystem from the beginning. Their racks, carriers, ladders, and bumpers bring the lightweight strength and functional versatility our clients rely on. Their products help us create vans that go further, stay organized, and look dialed no matter where the road leads. Aluminess never feels like an add-on. It feels like part of the build being clean, structural, and intentional.”

Designing Adventure-Ready Living Spaces

Inside the van, the EO team uses marine-grade aluminum, open layouts, and soft-storage solutions to create spaces that breathe. Their interiors are built around real movement, walking through with sandy feet, grabbing climbing gear from a soft-drawer, cooking at sunset, setting up remote work, or settling in after a long day outside.

Designing Adventure-Ready Living Spaces

I started Exclusive Outfitters with a simple goal: build vans that feel as good to live in as they do to drive,” Mattarollo  shares. “For me, adventure is about movement: how you flow through a space, how your gear fits into your rhythm, and how a van can support the moments that matter most on the road.

Exclusive Outfitters has 10 pre-configured models to choose from, or a new van enthusiasts can go off menu with full custom builds. Part of their white glove service is taking in trade-ins and optional financing packages. There is also a limited inventory of fully customized vans ready for a new owner and its next adventure.

Typical Exclusive Outfitters custom van owners reflect that versatility:

  • Families chasing weekend escapes

  • Long-distance travelers exploring national parks

  • Mountain bikers, surfers, climbers, and snow seekers

  • Remote workers balancing exploration with everyday life

On average, EO vans see 5,000–15,000 adventure miles per year, often across deserts, forests, alpine passes, and coastal routes, exactly the environments where Aluminess gear proves its worth.

“We want our customers to feel like the dream is always ready. They should be able to say yes to a trip today, tonight, or whenever the urge to explore hits.”

Exclusive Outfitters × Aluminess: A Shared Vision

The connection between Exclusive Outfitters and Aluminess is simple: both brands believe in gear that works as hard as the people who use it. The Builder Profile reflects that shared philosophy; premium products, real-world functionality, and a relentless focus on the adventure ahead.

Exclusive Outfitters continues pushing boundaries in design, durability, and modularity, while Aluminess provides the exterior strength to support those ambitions.

It’s a partnership built on purpose. On capability. And on a mutual respect for the journey, not just the destination.Â
