Agile Offroad

Welcome to Aluminess's Builder Spotlight!

Agile Offroad

Agile Offroad is known for solving one of the most challenging problems in the van and overland space: how a vehicle actually performs once it’s built and loaded.

The founding team came from a racing and engineering background, so the mindset was different from the beginning. All passionate and experienced off-roaders and performance specialists, Ramsey “Smarter-Than-Dirt” El Wardani brought together John Brindell, Glen Straightiff, and Jesus Hernandez to begin building and tuning full-size adventure vans.

From the early days, their approach was very different from traditional builders. Instead of focusing on bolt-on upgrades, Agile looks at the vehicle as a complete system with suspension, drivetrain, weight distribution, braking, and driver feedback, all working together.

They built their reputation by developing true performance solutions for platforms like Econolines, Sprinter, and Transit vans, long before the overland market reached its current popularity. That early focus positioned them as a leader when customers started demanding more than just aesthetics.

Agile Offroad's very first store front.

"We saw that vans were going to become more than just campers, they were going to be driven hard, loaded heavy, and expected to go places people previously reserved for purpose-built 4x4s."

Today, their work spans multiple platforms, covering all van platforms to other vehicles like the INEOS Grenadier and Ford Ranger Raptor, and the process remains the same:

  • Start with real-world use cases
  • Test under load and in terrain
  • Tune for balance, not just specs

The result is vehicles that look capable and drive correctly, even when fully built out and pushed off-road.

Why Suspension Sits at the Center of Everything

Suspension determines how a vehicle manages weight, how it responds to terrain, how it maintains control at speed, and how it communicates with the driver. When it is properly tuned, it brings cohesion to the entire build. When it is not, every shortcoming becomes amplified.

This is partially one of Agile’s cornerstones with their RIP Kit (Ride Improvement Package). It is positioned as a way to bring the vehicle back into balance once it has been built out and loaded. By adjusting spring rates, damping, and overall setup to match the actual weight and use of the van, the Sprinter RIP Kit and Transit RIP Kit addresses the changes introduced by racks, bumpers, storage, and other equipment. In that sense, it’s less about adding capability and more about correcting for it and ensuring the vehicle maintains predictable handling, stability, and control after the build is complete.

"You can have the best accessories in the world, but if the suspension isn’t right, the vehicle won’t perform. That’s why we’ve always stayed so focused on it. It’s not the most visible upgrade, but it’s the one you feel every mile."

Agile Offroad Trusted Partnerships And Validation

As a recognized industry leader in building and tuning well-performing adventure vans and overland vehicles, Agile Offroad has gained the confidence of its suppliers as well as global automotive accessory manufacturing giants like Fox Factory, ARB Corporation, and Alcon Braking Systems

It is a relationship that goes both ways. Agile innovates with curated and tuned packages while its trusted vendors collaborate to supply superior solutions.

Where Aluminess Becomes Part of the Agile Offroad System

This is also where Aluminess enters the conversation in a meaningful way.

Every product Aluminess builds, whether it be roof racks, rear carriers, storage systems, steps, or bumpers, serves a functional purpose. At the same time, each component introduces weight, affects placement, and influences how the vehicle carries that load over time.

Those factors cannot be separated from performance. They are part of it.

Agile understands this at a fundamental level. Their approach requires that storage, protection, and structural components behave predictably under real-world conditions. It also requires that those components be designed with weight distribution and durability in mind, not just packaging or appearance.

This is where the relationship between Agile and Aluminess has remained consistent over time. It is not based on convenience or proximity, though both companies are literally neighbors and located across the street from each other in Santee, California. It is built on a shared understanding of what matters once the vehicle leaves pavement.

Both teams prioritize products that are built for use, not display. That alignment allows the conversation to move beyond compatibility and into integration.

"The best partners care about quality, stand behind their products, and are focused on long-term relationships, not just transactions.

Agile Offroad And Its Approach to Service, Tuning, and Installation

Recognizing that no two builds are the same, Agile knows that proper setup and installation matter just as much as the components themselves.

From initial consultation, planning, and installation, Agile focuses on understanding how the vehicle will actually be used. That context informs everything from suspension tuning to component selection and overall setup. Adjustments, refinement, and real-world validation are all part of delivering a finished vehicle that performs as intended.

At the same time, Agile offers ongoing support through service, re-tuning, and customer guidance. Whether it’s dialing in a newly completed build, adapting a vehicle for changing use, or helping an owner better understand their setup, the goal remains consistent: ensure the vehicle continues to operate as a cohesive, well-balanced system long after it leaves the shop.

Agile Offroad Education & Community

Agile not only outfits the vehicles, but they also put just as much emphasis on making sure owners actually understand how to use them with curated events.

That’s where The Agile Academy comes in.

Through hands-on clinics and training events, Agile teaches customers how to:

  • Drive off-road with confidence
  • Understand how their vehicle behaves under load
  • Perform basic recovery techniques
  • Make better decisions when building or modifying their rig

"When people understand their vehicle, how to drive it, how to recover it, how it behaves off-road, they make better decisions and ultimately have a much better experience. Education isn’t just a value-add for us; it’s part of delivering a complete solution."

Programs like the Sprinter Masterclass & Trail Run are designed for real-world application—not theory. Participants get behind the wheel, learn directly from experienced instructors, and immediately apply those skills on guided trail runs.

But it’s not just technical.

There’s a strong community element—shared camp setups, trail time, and connecting with other owners who are learning the same platform. It’s part education, part experience, and part entry point into the lifestyle.

At its core, Agile sees education as part of the product.

Because a capable vehicle only goes as far as the person driving it.
